Interesting quotes…
"A free press can, of course, be good or bad, but most certainly without freedom, the press will never be anything but bad"
Albert Camus

The New Trend!
According to the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, the popularity of cosmetic surgery has grown rapidly over the past fifteen years by eight percent. With the risk of plastic surgery, many people aren't afraid of going through with it because they have a need of fulfillment. Dr. Kuo states that the most common types of procedures done are breast augmentations, liposuction, and Rhinoplasty. Shows such as Botched, Plastic Surgery Beverly Hills and Make me perfect transforms people into looking like their ideal celebrity. These shows were very interesting because while watching I noticed many people compare their ideal satisfaction to a particular celebrity.
On an episode of Make me Perfect, Ashley stated she wanted to look as similar to Kim Kardashian as she could. She felt Kim was a work of art from the structure of her face to the shape of her toned body. Now one would question, why would she want to look exactly like Kim instead of achieving her own look? Maybe she thought Kim was the most beautiful woman on this planet and she wanted to be the next, even if it meant undergoing surgery. With television shows such as this, many more people are having the desire to possibly consider plastic surgery. I know I have, because it has become the new norm!

Social Media
Social media has become a new platform to connect with people throughout the world. Now more than ever social media is a polar source, for people can network daily. There are sites to share photos, videos, status updates, and sites for meeting new people and some in which you can connect with old friends. It has been proven that teenagers use sources such as twitter, Instagram, snap chat, and Facebook twice as more as adults. During my experience in my Broadcasting course as I asked many of the students at LaGuardia, how many hours they spent on social media weekly? Many of the responses were over one hundred and for myself personal I would include myself in that bunch as an adolescent.
Take a look into Perceptions
Are you interested in getting the scoop on the latest celebrity and their hot new trends? Well don't be shy to admit it because you're not the only one. According to a survey by the editor and chief of Juicy magazine, 65% percent of women ages fifteen to thirty watch entertainment news, listen to the radio, or read magazines to either get the new celebrity gossip or to find new fashion and beauty trends. Many individuals, especially women look up to stars, and question their own perceptions of who they really are. Society conveys viewers that celebrity are the best example of "Perfection," and viewers buy into this and in some cases invest their money into fixing themselves. In reality many of us have our own set of insecurities but is it because of society? Has society brainwashed us to believe our image isn't good enough? It could be both in a sense because many of us lack confidence and don't look upon middle or lower class individuals to be "good enough".
